State Aid to Fair
Through enabling act 1122, passed during the regular session of the
1969 Legislature, the Agriculture Center Board is co-sponsor of this
year’s National Peanut Festival and Fair and pays a portion of the
premiums, prizes and awards listed in this program.

GENERAL RULES
SPECIAL NOTES:
Only pigs with veterinary inspection certificates will be allowed in
the barns. Once hogs are unloaded, all trailers must be moved
immediately to designated area. Those left unattended will be
towed.

Any one over age 5 as of the date of the show will be eligible
to exhibit.
-
All show animals are required to be owned by the exhibitor in
whose name the entry is made. If an exhibitor has more than
one entry per class, another exhibitor must show it. The
superintendent must approve exceptions to this rule (in case of
emergency) by 5:00 p.m. on the show date. Ownership Date
Deadline is October 3, 2009.

Entries for all classes will close at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday,
November 3rd. (NO EXCEPTIONS!)
-
The show is open to either barrows or gilts.
-
Barrows and Gilts will show separately provided numbers
accommodate a separate Barrow Show.
-
Exhibitors will have access to the show grounds no earlier than
Tuesday, November 3rd at 8:00 AM. Any exhibitor,
upon whom this rule would work a hardship, may apply to the
superintendent of the show for special consideration.
-
Weight classes will be broken by weight, with approximately 8-10
animals in each class depending on the number of entries.
-
Owners will furnish all feed for hogs.
-
The National Peanut Festival committee and show organizers will
not be responsible for losses, injuries or mishaps that may
befall animals during the show. All reasonable precautions will
be taken to prevent losses or injuries.
-
No animals are to be carried, restrained or harassed in any way
to cause undue stress on the animal. Anyone not abiding by
this rule will be asked to leave the barn immediately.
-
The Committee will interpret all rules not covered in the
general rules.
-
All premiums will be paid directly to the exhibitor from the
National Peanut Festival. A Social Security Number will be
required.
-
All entries will be weighted, tagged and numbered by 3:00 PM
CST, Tuesday, November 3rd. One reweigh will be
allowed only on light or heavy entries. (NO EXCEPTIONS ON
WEIGH-IN CUT OFF TIME!)
-
No water hoses will be allowed in the barns.
You will be required to keep your aisles cleaned.
-
Shavings MUST be removed from exhibitor’s assigned pens
by the exhibitor before leaving fairgrounds. Premiums will be
withheld from exhibitors who do not abide by this rule.

GENERAL RULES
SPECIAL NOTES:

GENERAL RULES
-
The contest will have four age divisions with ages based on the
date of the contest.
NOVICE: AGES 5 – 9 INTERMEDIATE: AGES 14 – 17
JUNIOR: AGES 10 – 13 SENIOR: AGES 18 – 21
Please list your birth date on the livestock entry form
when you enter your market hogs or prospect pig. No entry fee
is required for showmanship contest.

This contest is open only to show exhibitors.

All contestants must supply their own equipment.

The advisory committee will interpret all rules and any
questions not covered in the general rules. The decision of the
advisory committee is final and no further consideration will be
taken.

GENERAL RULES AND
REGULATIONS
SPECIAL NOTE: ONCE ANIMALS ARE UNLOADED, ALL TRAILERS MUST BE MOVED

Each exhibitor must be a member of a 4-H, FFA or FCCLA club and
owner of exhibit.
-
Each exhibitor will show animals at own risk and must furnish
own feed and care.
-
Health requirements are the same as the Open Hog Show.
-
Registration papers must be presented at the time of entry.
-
Exhibitor may enter only 2 animals per class.
-
Only animals placing in Junior Show will be allowed to enter in
the Open Show.
-
Entries are on a first come, first serve basis. State number of
pens needed on entry form.
-
Prize money will be mailed the week following the festival.
Please put a complete mailing address on your entry form.

No dogs allowed in the barns

Entry fee is $1.00 per animal, per show.

Pens must be cleaned before leaving fairgrounds.

Gilts may be shown in Market Hog Show. (See rules for Market

GENERAL RULES AND
REGULATIONS
-
Entries are open to all breeders of purebred swine. Any breed
will have at least 15 animals to show as a breed. Breeds with
less than 15 entries will be grouped and shown as mixed breed.
-
Entries will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. State
number of pens needed when sending in your entries.
-
All entries must be in place by 12:00 noon, Wednesday, November
4. All hogs will be required to remain at the show until 4:00
p.m., Thursday, November 5.
-
Prize money will be mailed the week following the festival.
Please be sure to put a complete mailing address on your entry
forms.
-
Registration certificate will be required for each animal
entered.
-
Each exhibitor will show animals at own risk and must furnish
own feed and care.
-
All swine exhibited must be accompanied by an official health
certificate indicating that they are free from all contagious
and infectious diseases. The certificate must be signed by an
accredited veterinarian.
All
breeding animals must have tested negative in all dilutions to
Brucellosis or originate from a validated herd. This information
must be recorded on the official health certificate and, in the case
of having originated from a validated herd, the certificate number
and the expiration date must be recorded.
All
swine exhibited must have tested negative for Pseudo-rabies within
30 days of the show and
must
Originate from a herd that had no signs of Pseudo-rabies within the
previous 12 months or a qualified free herd.
-
Any exhibitor in any way involved in showing a fraudulent entry
will automatically forfeit all prize money won by himself or his
farm and will be barred from future participation in this show.
-
Each exhibitor can be paid a maximum of only two prizes per
class.
-
Breeds with the most entries will be shown first and in
descending order.

SPECIAL NOTE:
If you have any complaints, please submit the complaints verbally
within four (4) days and in writing within ten (10) days to the
superintendent.
DIANNE BRANNON SHOWMANSHIP COMPETITION
This competition, in memory of Dianne Brannon of Malvern, AL is held
each year to promote interest in hogs, quality showmanship and for
entertainment.
-
Open to all ages, toddlers through adults.
-
Competition will be held during the swine show.
-
No requirements for entry.
-
Only gilts (of any breed) are allowed to be used in this
contest.
-
The judge evaluates the performance of the person and his/her
efforts in preparing the hog for the show, and not the hog.

Junior: Grades 7 – 9
Senior: Grades 10 – 12
“Old
