State Aid to Fair

 

Through enabling act 1122, passed during the regular session of the 1969 Legislature, the Agriculture Center Board is co-sponsor of this year’s National Peanut Festival and Fair and pays a portion of the premiums, prizes, and awards listed in the program.

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS

1.  All entries must be pre-registered Friday, October 26, 2007.  Mail entries to: National Peanut Festival, 5622 Highway 231 South, Dothan, Alabama 36301, or hand delivered to the Festival Office.

 

2.  All reasonable caution in the handling and safeguarding of all exhibits will be 

    exercised, but the Festival staff cannot assume responsibility for any loss/damage

    incurred.

 

3.  Entries must be placed between 4:00 and 7:00p.m., Thursday, November 1stPlease go to  the Premium Exhibits area.  If unable to bring entry on the above date, please call Nancy Pynes.

 

4.  No one except judges, clerks, and chairmen will be allowed in the Food Preservation Hall until 5:00 p.m., Friday, November 2nd.

 

5.  Grand Prizes and Rosettes will be given to the Grand Prize Winner in Classes 1-10 &  11-12.

 

6.  A Silver Tray donated by BUFFALO ROCK/PEPSI will be given to the Overall Grand Prize Winner of Classes 1-10 and a Silver Tray donated by GRACE SEED & FERTILIZER will be awarded to the Grand Prize Winner in Classes 11-12.

 

7.  No items will be released without the exhibitor’s tag stub.  Exhibits must be left

    in place until 1:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11.  All exhibits are to be picked up between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., Sunday,  Nov. 11.  Any exhibit not picked up will become the property of the National Peanut Festival at that time.

 

8.  Premium checks will be given to you Sunday, November 11th.

 

9.  All jars must be sealed and only standard jars and lids will be accepted, except on Class 9 (Pepper Sauces).  Please, no decorated jars.

 

10. Prizes will be awarded strictly on quality and appearance of the products except for Classes 4, 5, 11, & 12, which will be tasted.

 

11. Judges are not required to award prizes in every category.

 

CLASS NUMBER

1.  Canned Vegetables

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type canned vegetables.  The jar shall be either a quart or pint.

 

2.  Canned Fruit

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type canned fruit.  The jar shall be either a quart or pint.

 

3.  Preserves

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type of preserves.  The jar shall be either a quart or pint.

 

4.  Jellies

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type jelly.  The jar shall be either a pint, or 1/2 pint or regular jelly molds.

 

 

5.  Jams

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type jam.  The jar shall be either a quart, a pint, or 1/2 pint.

 

6.  Sweet Pickles

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type pickles.  The jar shall be either a quart, a pint, or 1/2 pint.

 

7.  Dill Pickles

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type pickles.  The jar shall be either a quart, a pint, or 1/2 pint.

 

8.  Relishes

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type relish.  The jar shall be either a quart, a pint, or 1/2 pint.

 

9.  Pepper Sauce

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type pepper sauce.  Any size of container will be accepted.

 

10. Miscellaneous

    This class will be for any item that does not fit into the above categories.  Only ONE entry per exhibit.  The jar shall be either a quart or a pint.

 

11. Peanut Butter

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type homemade peanut butter.  The jar shall be either a quart or a pint.

 

12. Canned Boiled Peanuts

    This exhibit shall consist of no more than ONE jar of each type canned peanuts.  The jar shall be either a quart or a pint.

 

PREMIUMS:

1ST PLACE...............................$8.00

2ND PLACE...............................$4.00

3RD PLACE...............................$3.00

 

GRAND PRIZES:

CLASSES 1 – 10..............ROSETTE & $15.00
