 Through enabling act 1122, passed during the regular session of the 1969 Legislature, the Agriculture Center Board is co-sponsor of this year’s National Peanut Festival and Fair, and pays a portion of the premiums, prizes and awards listed in this program.

11TH ANNUAL

YOUTH MEAT GOAT SHOW

NOVEMBER 7, 2009 --- 9:00 A.M.

1.  Fairgrounds will be open for animals after 12 Noon on Friday, November 6, 2009.  All meat goats must be  

     on the grounds and processed on November 7, 2009 between 7:30 A.M. and 8:30 A.M.  Exhibitors must be

     present at processing of the meat goat to be eligible to show.  All goats must be in the barn by 6:00 P.M. 

 

2.  Competition is for market meat goats.  All breeds and crossbreeds of goats are eligible for competition.

 

3.  Entry fees of $4.00 per head must accompany the entry form.  Please make checks payable to the National

     Peanut Festival.

 

4.  All goats must possess milk teeth and with a minimum of 35 pounds to be eligible to show in the meat goat

     show.

 

5.  All entries must be submitted on official entry forms and postmarked by October 5, 2009 to National   

     Peanut Festival, 5622 US Highway 231 South, Dothan, Alabama 36301.  For information, contact Jason

6.  Wethers or does from any breed or crossbreed will be eligible to show.

 

7.  All animals will be exhibited at the owner’s risk.  Feed and care are the responsibility of the owner /

     exhibitor.

 

8.  An exhibitor must show their own animal in each class entered unless that exhibitor has more than one

     animal in that particular class.  Another youth must show the other entry.

 

9.  Showmanship will begin at 9:00 A.M.  Classes are based on ages as of January 1, 2009 and will show as

     follows:

                                    1. 14 years & older                

                                    2.  9 – 13 years old

                                    3.  8 years & younger

 10.  Animals will be released immediately after the show.

 

11.  All goats exhibited must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection issued within 30 days of

the show date by an accredited veterinarian, certifying the animal to be free of visible signs of contagious and/or infectious diseases.

 

12.  The Show Committee will check Certificates of Veterinarian Inspection upon check in.

 

13.  Competition is open to all youth who are 4 years old and not more than 2 years out of high school.

 

14.  Animals shown in Breeding Boer Goat Show are not eligible to show in Youth Meat Goat Show.

 

15.  There will be five (5) classes by weight in the Meat Goat Show.

16.  Showmanship classes to be awarded ribbons.  First Place in each class to receive $10 each.

 

17.  Exhibitors must clean their pens before leaving fairgrounds.  Exhibitors will receive notification that

       entries have been received.  Passes & tickets will be mailed to exhibitors.  Each exhibitor will receive an

       Ag decal and one ticket for each day of the show.  Additional tickets may be purchased at regular gate

       admission price of $7.  $6 advance tickets may be purchased at the Festival Office.  ALL TRAILERS NEED TO

       BE MOVED TO THE DESIGNATED AREA AFTER UNLOADING.  THOSE LEFT UNATTENDED WILL BE TOWED.
